Many people make the mistake of thinking the church is something they can join like it
was just another social organization where you choose the kind of people you wish to rub shoulders with (and maybe filter out those whom you would like to avoid.) Voluntary societies and clubs think in those terms. So fellowship is based on common interests, respecting the rules, contributing 'your fair share," and learning to walk the tightrope (and wear the mask) to get along and to be accepted. Often working at "fitting in" brings more loneliness instead of true community! The church is not an organization we can join, but an organism. We can't join it. Christ joins us to Himself, united us by baptism forever into His death and His life (Romans 6:5). Our world isolates people, gathering them into anonymous crowds only to exploit them. Jesus calls disciples to himself, breaks bread, looks them in the eye, and says, "Take, eat, this is my body." To make us one, he endured utmost isolation upon the cross!
Jesus knows how to put the eyes, hands and feet of his body together. Like the human body, which is made up of millions of cells (the basic unit of life), the life of the cell-based church is also in its cells (small intergenerational groups and youth in community). We have a
20/20 vision. After all, real life is made up of what might look like little things--decisions, opportunities and the daily crisis. It is at this grass roots level that we desire to help one another discover Christ's presence, power and purpose in our lives! We also meet corporately for "Cell-ebration Worship" on Sunday mornings! We are asking the Holy Spirit to join others to us who share this Vision.

They
broke bread in their homes, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the
people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being
saved" (Acts 2.42-47).

SECOND REFORMATION |
|
There has been a world wide explosion of
interest in the Cell-Based model for Christians looking for effective
Biblical models for raising children, and adults to be salt and light
Christians, penetrating our culture for Christ. This was, of course, the
pattern of the first followers of Jesus. Every illustration used in the
New Testament to describe the church shows it to be a group in which every
person has an important part to play. We are members of the body, soldiers
in an army, priest in the nation, servants in the kingdom, workers in the
field. It is our goal to become a Church where every member is:
-
Cared for and grows
to maturity in the Body of Christ.
-
Equipped to serve,
and to find his/her place of ministry
-
Involved in praying
for and seeking the lost
This was the original goal of Martin Luther, who
sought to restore "the priesthood of all believers" to the
church. His dream, he said, was that those "who
want to be Christians in earnest and who profess the gospel with hand and
mouth should sign their names and meet alone in a house somewhere to pray,
to read, to baptize, to receive the sacrament, and to do other Christian
works."

20/20
VISION |
| According to Acts 20:20, the Apostle's
strategy for making disciples was to minister publicly and from house to
house. LCF Cells meet in homes throughout the week, and gather for
Celebration Worship at Tempe 7th Adventist Church, at 41 E. 13th Street,
off Mill and Apache (just next to the towering Twin Palms Hotel) at 9 a.m.
Sundays. |

LCF VISION STATEMENT |
| "We are a Small Group of LIVING CHRIST
FELLOWSHIP, for Jesus is ALIVE and in our midst with His Presence, Power
and Purpose. We gather young and old, believing that all disciples have
gifts to build up one another. There are three levels of honesty in this
group...honest, more honest, and most honest, and we encourage everyone to
strive for the highest level. We invite others to join with us in our
quest, and as we grow, we will multiply. This is positive, because it
gives us an opportunity to share God's gifts and others an opportunity to
receive and grow with us." |
